NIGHT SPOT PROGRAM
MLK, Jr. Family Services’ evening program for ages 10-23 is an engaging social hub for youth. Our mission is to empower youth as critical thinkers and community builders, while equipping them with valuable life skills for high school, college, and beyond. Join us for evenings packed with gaming competitions, tournaments, arts workshops, gender-specific programming, and special events. Our advocacy supports court-involved youth in the Mason Square encouraging youth to steer clear of drugs, gang involvement and cultivate a bright future.
Night Spot programing operates Monday through Friday from 6pm to 9pm.
SPORTS/ RECREATION
Join us for Open Gym sessions, where the court buzzes with basketballs bouncing and players cheering. Mondays and Fridays are all about pick-up style basketball – perfect for both solo players and groups. Come make new friends or bring your squad for some hoops action!
If volleyball is more your speed, Tuesdays and Thursdays are your time to shine! Our courts are ready for thrilling matches filled with spikes and digs. Whether you’re a pro or just playing for fun, you’ll find a welcoming community eager to share the joy of the game.
Players officiate their own games, working together to keep things fun and fair.
LIFE SKILLS
Through weekly meetings, members discuss personal experiences and important issues affecting teens including relationships, social expectations, self esteem, identity, youth violence and more. Sessions are organized to foster intergenerational conversation with guest speakers, volunteers and panelists. Weekly sessions incorporate hands-on activities, roundtable discussions, movies and occasional trips which encourage young people to explore and challenges their perceptions and beliefs about themselves and others.
COLLEGE/ CAREER READINESS
In our workshops, we dive into essential skills for college and career readiness. Learn the ins and outs of crafting a standout resume that showcases your strengths and achievements. Practice your interview skills, so you’re prepared to impress admissions officers, scholarship committees, and future employers alike.
